Formula:
Each tablet contains: Phenylbutazone 1 g.; Excipients q.s. 1 tablet.

Indications:
Acute and chronic inflammatory conditions, arthritis, tendinitis, synovitis, joint strain, osteitis. Hyperthermia.

Target species:
Horses not intended for human consumption.

Dosage and administration:
Administer orally. The loading dose for an adult horse is 3 g (3 tablets), and the maintenance dose is 2 g (2 tablets) per day. Note that the effect will appear starting 6 hours after administration. If after 5 days of treatment there is no remission of symptoms, review the diagnosis. In ponies and elderly animals it is recommended to reduce the dose to 2.2 mg per kg body weight.

Contraindications:
Do not combine with warfarin or sulfonamides. Do not use when digestive ulcers, coagulation defects, cardiac, renal or hepatic disease are suspected, nor when thyroid conditions or allergy to this drug are present. In case of acute drug-induced toxicity, discontinue treatment, alkalinize the urine and administer prostaglandins and H2 blockers.
